Heroin played role in Peaches Geldof's death

The results of British socialite Peaches Geldof's toxicology report shows that she had heroin in her system at the time of her death.

Geldof died of a heroin overdose, echoing the death of her mother Paula Yeats 14 years earlier. An inquest was held yesterday. "Recent use of heroin and and the levels identified were likely to have played a role in her death" Detective Chief Inspector Paul Fotheringham said at the inquest.

The 25-year-old was found dead at her family home in Kent last month. At the time no drug paraphernalia was found and police described the death as not suspicious, but there is now speculation that someone may have removed the evidence before their arrival. Geldof was found after her husband was unable to contact her. He then sent a friend over to their house to check if she was okay. Just hours before Geldof was found dead she posted a picture on her Instagram account of herself and her mother with the words "me and my mum".

Geldof's battle with drugs was apparently public knowledge amongst her friends. In 2008 she was seen handing $340 to a known drug dealer and in another incident in the same year she left a drugs shopping list in a London pub. In 2010 the model was dropped from a lucrative contract after pictures surfaced of her naked and high on heroin.
