Monthly entertainment favourites

I decided to try something a little different with my blog. Hopefully you guys like it! I thought that at the beginning of each month I'd let you all know some of my favourite things in the entertainment world from the previous month.

First up is Taylor Swift! I've always liked her music, but her latest album 1989 is her best one yet I think! I think I've downloaded half the album onto my iPod already, since I like most of the songs on it. I loved the video clip for Bad Blood! I wish I looked that good in a super hero outfit. I saw the debut of Taylor's Wildest Dreams video clip during the VMAs yesterday. That's pretty good too, and it has Scott Eastwood in it! (Need I say more ladies? LOL!)

I recently saw the movie Paper Towns, and was such a big of Cara Delevingne's performance in the film that she definitely makes the list on my monthly entertainment favourites. I think I already mentioned it in my review of Paper Towns, but it is one of the best movies I've seen so far this year. I was recently watching an interview that Cara Delevingne did on The Project a few months ago, and she just seems like a really down-to-earth girl. So good to see someone her age in Hollywood who's not putting on an act and not afraid to be themselves. I predict a long film career ahead for her!

Now we come to a little guilty pleasure of mine! Not sure if I should admit publicly to watching it? Then again it seems like everyone in Australia is watching as well, right? I've been watching The Bachelor Australia this season. I never watched the previous seasons at all, so not sure why I'm liking it this year. I think perhaps Sandra's antics sucked me into it haha! I kept wanting to see who's feathers she would ruffle next, so just kept watching! To be honest I find the girls behaviour more amusing than anything else. It's good for a laugh. In any case I have a few favourite girls that I hope Sam chooses, because I reckon they seem the closest and best suited to him. I hope he chooses Heather or Snezana (or should we call her parmigana, like everyone else? Haha!)

I've watched The Voice Australia every season so far, and when I heard that Jessie J was going to be one of the coaches for this season I wasn't too sure how she'd go, but I must say I really enjoyed watching her. She seemed to take her role as a mentor very seriously, which is what the coaches are supposed to do I think. Jessie J's advice may have seemed harsh at times, but at least it was honest unlike some of the fluff that the other coaches were going on about. I think Jessie J has the right attitude so she was definitely my favourite coach on The Voice this year!

Now, anyone who's known me for a while will know that I'm a huge Neighbours fan. Just a hint for any UK Neighbours fans, this will contain some spoilers for you since you guys are a few weeks behind the Australian broadcast. There's a huge story line going on at the moment involving Brad Willis [Kip Gamblin] and Lauren Turner [Kate Kendall]. It's been a long time coming so I can't wait to see it all play out in spectacular fashion this week! Team Brad and Lauren all the way, so these two make the entertainment favourites this month!

I hope you all enjoyed reading about what some of my favourite things are this month! Stay tuned next month to see what else I'm liking!

66TH Primetime Emmy Awards-Live Blog

Photo from: The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards Live Stream Facebook page

The television industry's night of nights is finally here! It's almost time for the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards to begin! Some favourites to win are Game Of Thrones, Breaking Bad and Orange Is The New Black and there will be a special tribute by Billy Crystal for the late Robin Williams, which I am dying to see! Right now it is 8:16am where I am in Sydney, Australia and I am trying to find a live stream so I can actually do this live blog of The Emmys for you! Unfortunately none of the free to air TV networks in Australia are airing The Emmys live, which is very disappointing. You'd think they would considering a lot of the shows nominated are broadcast over here as well. If I can't find a live stream of the whole awards I'll be able to bring you a live blog of The Emmys red carpet at least! While I blog I will be putting Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) first and then Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) second. So my live blog of The Emmys at The Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles starts...now!

8:40am AEST/3:40pm PDT I just saw Ed O'Neil from Modern Family on The Emmys red carpet! I'm hoping Modern Family takes out the award for Outstanding Comedy Series again!

8:43am AEST/3:43pm PDT Matt LeBlanc has just arrived at the 66th Primetime Emmys! I haven't seen him in a while. He is definitely looking like a silvertail these days!

8:57am AEST/3:52pm PDT Jimmy Fallon cuts in on a Saturday Night Live (SNL) cast interview! Hilarious! Gotta love him!

9am AEST/4pm PDT Apparently Sarah Hyland from Modern Family is a fashion favourite so far for this year's Emmys.

9:05am AEST/4:05pm PDT Stephen Colbert from The Colbert Report has now arrived on The Emmys red carpet! He is discussing taking over from David Letterman next year and says that he chose to take the gig because he wanted to do something different.

9:14am AEST/4:14pm PDT A true Hollywood legend Jon Voight has arrived on The Emmys red carpet!

9:21am AEST/4:21pm PDT Debra Messing is in the house at The Emmys!

9:26am AEST/4:26pm PDT Matthew McConaughey has arrived at The Emmys. I love him! He is nominated for his show, True Detective. Matthew has already won an Oscar this year. Can he win an Emmy as well?

9:33am AEST/4:33pm PDT One of the hot topics at The Emmys seems to be the series finale of Breaking Bad.

9:39am AEST/4:39pm PDT Julia Louis-Dreyfus seems to be the staunch favourite to win Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Veep. I would love Julia Louis-Dreyfus to win! I love her. She is such a great TV talent.

9:46am AEST/4:46pm PDT Jesse Tyler-Ferguson from Modern Family has just arrived at The Emmys! Can Modern Family win 5 Emmys in a row for Outstanding Comedy Series? If it does it will beat Fraiser's record!

9:52am AEST/4:52pm PDT I have just seen Julia Roberts and Sofia Vergara on The Emmys red carpet! They both look stunning! I think Sofia Vergara's dress is my favourite so far. She always wears something classy and gets it right!

9:56am AEST/4:56pm PDT For those who didn't already know Seth Myers is hosting this year's Emmys. The official ceremony is about to start in a few minutes so hopefully I can find a live stream to bring the rest of the show to you!

10:10am AEST/5:10pm PDT Found a live stream! Yes! And Ty Burrell just won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series! Yay! I love Modern Family and I love Ty Burrell!

10:19am AEST/5:19pm PDT Louie C.K. wins the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for his TV show, Louie.

10:23am AEST/5:23pm PDT I thought Julie Bowen or Mayim Bialik would win that Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

10:24am AEST/5:24pm PDT   Just while the ad breaks are on I will say that I'm loving Zooey Deschanel's dress and Seth Myers is doing an awesome job hosting so far! He's hilarious.

10:37am AEST/5:37pm PDT Julia Louis-Dreyfus has taken the stage! She looks fantastic!

10:38am AEST/5:38pm PDT The Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series is Jim Parsons from Big Bang Theory! Well done Jim! I love Big Bang Theory! Big Bang Theory and Modern Family are my favourite comedies at the moment so it's great to see them take out Emmys tonight!

10:45am AEST/5:45pm PDT OMG Julia Louis-Dreyfus just won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Veep! I cheered so loud for her that I think my neighbours heard LOL! I'm so happy she won that. It is a very well deserved award. Julia Louis-Dreyfus was the favourite to win that category and she did! Well done Julia!

11am AEST/6pm PDT The Emmy Award for Most Outstanding Writing in a Miniseries goes to Sherlock.

11:28am AEST/6:28pm PDT The Emmy Award for Most Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries is Jessica Lange for American Horror Story.

11:35am AEST/6:35pm PDT The Emmy Award for Most Outstanding Miniseries goes to Fargo. I loved all those Games Of Thrones jokes. I wish my sister, Liat saw that! She is like literally obsessed with Game Of Thrones. She talks about it all the time haha!

11:45am AEST/6:45pm PDT The Emmy Award for Most Outstanding Television Movie goes to Normal Heart, which starred Julia Roberts and Mark Ruffalo.

11:48am AEST/6:48pm PDT It wouldn't be an Emmy Awards show without a "so many Jews work in Hollywood" joke would it Sarah Silverman? Congrats on your Emmy win by the way!

12pm AEST/7pm PDT The Emmy Award for Most Outstanding Variety Show goes to The Colbert Report! Congratulations to Stephen Colbert! I just messaged my friend to tell her about Stephen's Emmy win as she loves The Colbert Report. She is so stoked and I quote her "Oh my goodness! That's so awesome!!! You've got to write about that". There you go Martene haha!

12:10pm AEST/7:10pm PDT Congratulations to Aaron Paul for winning the Emmy for Most Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

12:17pm AEST/7:17pm PDT Oh here's the memorial that we've all been waiting for! Robin Williams! Everyone shhh...!

12:25pm AEST/7:25pm PDT What a lovely and touching tribute to the late Robin Williams by Billy Crystal. It's so appropriate to have Billy Crystal do this for his good friend. It has already been a few weeks since Robin Williams death but I still can't believe he is gone. I am such a fan.

12:45pm AEST/7:45pm PDT    Ugh! I had a few technical difficulties and my live stream of The Emmys cut out so I missed a few awards! I'm really sorry guys!

12:50pm AEST/7:50pm PDT The Emmy Award for Most Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series goes to Bryan Cranston for Breaking Bad.

12:55pm AEST/7:55pm PDT Modern Family wins the Emmy Award for Most Outstanding Comedy Series! Yes! Now they have beaten Frasier's record.

12:59pm AEST/7:59pm PDT The Emmy Award for Most Outstanding Drama Series goes to Breaking Bad. Wow! I thought with the popularity of Game Of Thrones that it would win. I think Breaking Bad probably won because it was their final year though right?

1pm AEST/8pm PDT It looks like that's it from The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards. It was a fun show to watch this year, despite my technical difficulties. Hope you guys enjoy reading this live blog!

I am stoked that Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Modern Family won Emmys this year! I honestly thought Game Of Thrones would walk away with something. My fashion pick of the night was Sofia Vergara. Her white dress was so beautiful! A special thanks goes to NBC for their live stream of the 66th Primetime Emmys, without this I would not have been able to bring you this live blog. Until next year folks!

If any of you guys also watched the Emmys I'd love to know your opinions and thoughts on this year's show so feel free to leave your comments in the comment box below!

2014 MTV VMA's- Live Blog

Photo from: VIP Concierge's Pinterest account

So in about ten minutes time the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards will be underway in Inglewood, California. I am live streaming the awards as I write this blog. The red carpet is currently happening and I can hear big screams from the crowd because it looks like Ed Sheeran has just arrived. I'm in Sydney, Australia so when I start blogging I will be putting the time in Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) first and then Pacific Daylight Time (PDT)  second. Some favourites to win are Iggy Azalea, Beyonce and Eminem. I wonder who will take home the little moon men this year!

10am AEST/5pm PDT: Gwen Stefani has just arrived at the MTV VMA's wearing a hot pink and black outfit. She is looking stunning.

10:07am AEST/5:07pm PDT: I can see LL Cool J talking to Ariana Grande in a little box on the side of my screen, which is showing the VMA pre-show. Ariana Grande is nominated for quite a few awards this year. I'm a fan of Araina Grande so I'm hoping she picks up a few awards!

10:14am AEST/5:14pm PDT: Looks like Maroon 5 and Taylor Swift have just arrived! I absolutely love Maroon 5 by the way! I can't wait to see them perform during the actual ceremony! I'm not a fan of Taylor Swift's blue outfit with some kind of lettering on it by the way.

10:18am AEST/5:18pm PDT: Yes! Everyone's favourite little twerker...The  one and only Miley Cyrus has just arrived at the 2014 MTV VMA's. I can hear the crowd chanting "Miley, Miley"! Sorry I've been informed they're chanting "Miley twerk!" C'mon Miley do it!

10:30am AEST/5:30pm PDT: J-Lo is in the house! Loving J-Lo's glittery, silver number. She reminds me of a mermaid.

10:37am AEST/5:37pm PDT: The Kardashian clan have arrived! Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner!

10:51am AEST/5:51pm PDT: Chris Brown aka Breezy just arrived at the VMA's.

10:59am AEST/5:59pm PDT: I can see the VMA stage getting lit up! The official MTV VMA ceremony starts...now!

11:10am AEST/6:10pm PDT: I spy Katy Perry and Katy Pery takes out the VMA for Best Female Video for Dark Horse. I unfortunately didn't get to actually hear Ariana Grande's opener because my live stream wouldn't let me. I will watch it properly later but it looked great! So stoked that Katy Perry won Best Female Video! Katy Perry is one of my favourite singers ever!

11:23am AEST/6:23pm PDT: Well that's annoying I can hear Taylor Swift's performance but couldn't hear Ariana Grande's! :(

11:28am AEST/6:28pm PDT: Ed Sheeran won the Best Male VMA for Sing.

11:39am AEST/6:39pm PDT: The VMA for Best Pop Video goes to Ariana Grande for Problems! Yes! That is one of my favourite songs at the moment! Such a deserving win! Gotta say I'm absolutely loving Ariana Grande's outfit! It's smoking hot!

11:40am AEST/6:40pm PDT: Sam Smith is now performing his song, Stay With Me! What a beautiful performance! I love that song!

11:44am AEST/6:44pm PDT: I'm watching the audience cam from the VMA's and all the Kardashian family are on their phones. Probably tweeting right?

11:49am AEST/6:49pm PDT: The VMA for Best Hip-Hop Video goes to Drake for Hold On We're Going Home

11:52am AEST/6:52pm PDT: Just while the ad breaks are on I have to say that I think my favourite dress that I've seen from this year's VMA's so far is Katy Perry's. I love it! Katy Perry you look stunning girl!

12pm AEST/7pm PDT: Usher is now performing on the VMA stage!

12:09pm AEST/7:09pm PDT: New Zealand native, Lorde wins Best Rock Video for Royals! I kind of expected that considering that it has been one of the most popular songs this year.

12:17pm AEST/7:17pm PDT: Australia's very own teen sensations, 5 Seconds Of Summer (5SOS) are now on stage! Australia represent!

12:26pm AEST/7:26pm PDT: The VMA for Artist To Watch goes to Fifth Harmony and it looks like the VMA's are doing a small tribute to the late Robin Williams! Well done guys!

12:36pm AEST/7:36pm PDT: Seriously loving Iggy Azalea's and Rita Ora's performance of Black Widow! I think it's my favourite performance of the show so far. Still waiting for Beyonce's performance so we'll see if she can top it!

12:50pm AEST/7:50pm PDT: The big award of the night Video Of The Year goes to...Miley Cyrus for Wrecking Ball! Really? I thought Beyonce would take that one!

1pm AEST/8pm PDT: Beyonce has taken the VMA stage! Everyone quiet! I love her! She's one of my favourites! All hail Queen Bey! I loved the crowd screaming "Beyonce, Beyonce!"

1:05pm AEST/8:05pm PDT: Sorry Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora. Beyonce wins as my favourite performer of the MTV VMA's! The crowd is at a standing ovation!

1:07pm AEST/8:07pm PDT: "I've been drinkin, I've been drinkin". Katy Perry dancing to Beyonce with a champagne glass in her hand...she been drinkin!

1:15pm AEST/8:15pm PDT: Beyonce accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award with Jay-Z and Blue Ivy! Almost had me in tears! Such a touching moment! There's only a handful of people who I think are deserving of a Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and Beyonce is definitely one of them!

1:23 pm AEST/8:23pm PDT: Well, folks it looks like that's it for the 2014 MTV VMA's! It was really fun live blogging for y'all! Hope you enjoy reading it! A special thanks should go to MTV for their All Access live stream without which I would not have been able to do this.

My final assessment of this year's show is that I really enjoyed watching it, although it was a little tame without Miley Cyrus's twerking. My favourite outfit of the night was Katy Perry's denim dress and without a doubt my favourite performance was Beyonce's!

Watch this space tomorrow by the way, because I will be live blogging The Emmys from 8am AEST so that's 3pm PDT! I want to hear all your opinions, comments etc on this year's MTV VMA's so go crazy in the comment box below!

RIP to Hollywood legend Robin Williams!

So I know it's been a few months since I have written a new blog post. To be honest I haven't got any excuse except laziness but that's all about to change. I have had some new inspiration from the death of beloved Hollywood actor, Robin Williams. I know that might sound funny to some people and you may think how can someone's death inspire you?...Well I'm an entertainment news writer and when something big like this happens in the entertainment world and all of Hollywood bands together in a really positive way to remember someone it reminds me why I like entertainment journalism so much. There are so many talented people in the entertainment industry that I admire and being an entertainment journalist means that I get to share that with people at times and this is one of those times.

By now everyone is aware that the great Hollywood actor and comedian, Robin Williams died at his home in San Francisco today. My friend messaged me to tell me the news and I was in disbelief. There has only been one other person in recent history, whose death I have reacted to in that way and that is of course, Michael Jackson. I grew up watching so many of Robin Williams films like Jumanji, Mrs Doubtfire and Hook. He made the world laugh and brought so much joy to families worldwide with his movies. Hollywood has truly lost one of its greatest because Mr Williams was a comedic genius and there are actually no words for me to describe how amazing an actor he was. My personal favourite Robin Williams film is Mrs Doubtfire. It makes me laugh everytime I watch it and it's actually one of my favourite films. I asked people on Facebook what their favourite Robin Williams movies are and these are the top five results...

1. Jumanji - (1995)

 2. Hook- (1991)

3. Mrs Doubtfire- (1993)

 4. Aladdin- (1992)

 5. Flubber- (1997)

I'd like to leave you all with Mork's views on losing a friend.

Happy Mothers Day!- Celebrity mothers and their famous offspring

Well I thought considering it has just been Mothers Day I would do a bit of a special blog post about some famous mums and their famous children. Before I get into that I just want to do a very special shout out to my own mum, Maureen Ravia! Even though we argue from time to time you are always there for all of us so thanks for all that you do!

What can I say? There are quite a few famous mother/children teams in Tinseltown so I picked ten of them to include in this special feature. Just a warning this blog post is very photo heavy.

Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson. Photo from: Sheila H.Miller's Pinterest account
Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson could possibly be the hottest mother/daughter team in Hollywood with their blonde hair, blue eyes and infectious smiles. They are both equally talented actresses. As the old saying goes "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree". The tree (aka Goldie Hawn) is still gorgeous, even at 68!

Jada Pinkett-Smith, Willow Smith and Jaden Smith. Photo from: Paul Herbert's Flickr photo stream
She may be more famous for being married to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star and rapper, Will Smith but Jada Pinkett-Smith is also a celebrity in her own right, having starred in numerous films including, Scream 2, The Nutty Professor, The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions and all of the Madagascar films. Last but definitely not least she is the mother of Jaden and Willow Smith, both of whom are making names for themselves in Hollywood. Needless to say, Willow and Jaden Smith are following in their parents footsteps as they have already had many successful songs and movies. I'm sure neither of these two could be doing what they do without the love and support of their mother. Thumbs up to Jada!

America's favourite funny woman, Joan Rivers is the mother of actress, Melissa Rivers. They currently star together in their own reality television show, Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best. Melissa is a mother herself to a 13-year-old son, Edgar Endicot.

I'm pretty sure that this mother/daughter duo need no introduction, right? Unless you're living under a rock (and even then I think there's nowhere to hide from this family, unfortunately!) you've heard of the attention-loving Kim Kardashian and her equally attention-loving mummy, Kris Jenner, that being said though it seems that Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian always seem to have each others back with whatever ups and downs they may go through so we'll give them snaps for that!

Miley Cyrus and Tish Cyrus. Photo from: CakeChooser
Long before Miley Cyrus rose to fame as Hannah Montana we knew her as the daughter of country singer, Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus. Tish must have had her hands full with Miley and all her siblings when they were growing up (I'm thinking she must be something like a superwoman!). Even though her daughter is now a superstar Tish and Miley still remain very close. Way to go Tish!

Nicky Hilton, Kathy Hilton and Paris Hilton. Photo from: fanpop!
This is another Hollywood family that we all know. Kathy Hilton is of course married to Hilton hotel heir, Richard Hilton. Her daughters, Paris and Nicky Hilton have obviously become very famous as well. Nicky has her clothing and handbag lines and well, Paris is famous for being...uh, Paris! She is pretty good at it too.

Paula Yates and Peaches Geldof. Photo from: Lucy Munns Pinterest account
Unfortunately, neither one of this mother/daughter pair is with us anymore. Paula Yates was a famous music journalist and was married to British musician, Bob Geldof. Yates and Geldof had three daughters together, Fifi Trixibelle Geldof, Peaches Honeyblossom Geldof and Little Pixie Geldof. Paula Yates died of a heroin overdose in 2000 and recently her daughter, Peaches Geldof met the same fate. They were both gone way before their time. Peaches was a mother herself to two little boys. Here's to those loving mothers who are no longer with us as well!

Riley Keough, Priscilla Presley and Lisa Marie Presley. Photo from: Riley Keough's Tumblr
If you thought a mother/daughter Hollywood duo wasn't enough, don't worry there's actually a trio! Just in case you didn't know, Priscilla Presley was married to the king of rock 'n' roll, Elvis Presley. She was an actress back in the 80s and 90s, appearing in the whole Naked Gun film franchise. Of course Priscilla is the mother of the beautiful and talented singer, Lisa Marie Presley. Lisa has certainly carved a place for herself in the music industry, aside from her famous father, both in the USA and abroad. Lisa Marie is a mother to four children herself. She has three daughters, Riley, Finley and Harper and one son Benjamin. Riley is a successful model and actress, having been the face of the Bonds underwear label in Australia for 2013. She has also been in films including, Magic Mike and Mad Max: Fury Road. Three successful women all in one family! Nice work ladies!

Kelly Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne. Photo from: Sharon Osbourne's Facebook page
Sharon Osbourne is the wife of Black Sabbath frontman, Ozzy Osbourne. She first shot to real fame after starring alongside her family in the reality television show, The Osbournes. She is currently a presenter on US chat show, The Talk. Naturally, Kelly Osbourne is the daughter of Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne. She has recorded many hit songs including, Papa Don't Preach and she has been a panelist on E!'s Fashion Police since 2010. Kelly is a very confident and strong woman. No doubt she gets those qualities from Mama Osbourne!

Candy Spelling and Tori Spelling. Photo from: Candy Spelling's Facebook page
Candy Spelling was married to successful television producer, Aaron Spelling. Tori Spelling is of course their daughter. Tori Spelling first shot to fame in the 90s starring in her father's highly successful teen drama, Beverly Hills 90210 as Donna Martin. Candy and Tori may not always see eye to eye, with their reported feuds but at the end of the day it seems they both know that family is very important and it seems that Candy enjoys doting on Tori's children.

So there you have it! A special Mothers Day blog post on celebrity mothers and their famous kids. I hope all the mothers out there had a very happy and enjoyable day! My sister and I bought my mother a gift voucher to get a manicure and a pedicure. We also took her out for lunch so I think she had a fun day. How did you guys celebrate Mothers Day and what did you get your mums? Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed reading this even though it's a bit long and as always feel free to comment, discuss etc.

Australia's own Jessica Mauboy to perform at Eurovision on Saturday

Photo from: Jessica Mauboy's Facebook page

Former Australian Idol star Jessica Mauboy will be representing Australia this week to do a special guest performance at Eurovision.

Copenhagen is definitely a long way from home for the Darwin born singer but Mauboy is keen to show Europe what she's got. "Performing at Eurovision is something I've dreamed of" the 25-year-old tweeted.  Mauboy revealed in an interview on Channel 9's Today Show on Monday that she couldn't believe it when she was invited to perform. "I am nervous! It's one of the biggest stages I've ever been invited to. I'm so proud" she said in the interview.

The Eurovision song contest is broadcast to 180 million viewers in 37 countries. Australians are huge fans of the show. Last year 2.93 million people in Australia tuned in to watch the broadcast. This led the Eurovision committee to invite SBS to select an Australian performer to grace the stage as a guest singer for the contest. SBS's choice was Jessica Mauboy. As a guest performer Mauboy will not be competing against artists from any other countries.

I personally like Jessica Mauboy. It will be interesting to see what Europe thinks of her. I'm really looking forward to hearing what song she will be performing. I watch the Eurovision every year anyway. It is always entertaining to see. Do any of you watch Eurovision as well? If, so which countries are you looking forward to seeing?

Heroin played role in Peaches Geldof's death

Photo from: Joesph Black's Flickr photo stream

The results of British socialite Peaches Geldof's toxicology report shows that she had heroin in her system at the time of her death.

Geldof died of a heroin overdose, echoing the death of her mother Paula Yeats 14 years earlier. An inquest was held yesterday. "Recent use of heroin and and the levels identified were likely to have played a role in her death" Detective Chief Inspector Paul Fotheringham said at the inquest.

The 25-year-old was found dead at her family home in Kent last month. At the time no drug paraphernalia was found and police described the death as not suspicious, but there is now speculation that someone may have removed the evidence before their arrival. Geldof was found after her husband was unable to contact her. He then sent a friend over to their house to check if she was okay. Just hours before Geldof was found dead she posted a picture on her Instagram account of herself and her mother with the words "me and my mum".

Geldof's battle with drugs was apparently public knowledge amongst her friends. In 2008 she was seen handing $340 to a known drug dealer and in another incident in the same year she left a drugs shopping list in a London pub. In 2010 the model was dropped from a lucrative contract after pictures surfaced of her naked and high on heroin.

These are a few of my favourite things!

Well I know it's been a while and I know I said I would try and do weekly blog updates but to be honest I have been stressing so much about finishing college and what the next step of my life should be STARDUST was the last thing on my mind. Since finishing college though I've had some new inspiration if you will so here is the blog post that I mentioned a few months ago of some of the different posters that I have up on my bedroom wall so you can all see some of my favourite things in music, television and film.

I can't remember if I mentioned it in my last blog post but I like to have posters around my room of my favourite music artists, television shows and movies. The reason for this is because I personally feel like my room is my sanctuary so I like to be surrounded by pictures that I enjoy. Here is a great tip for posters by the way. Instead of spending money on buying them I bought like a 50 pack of glossy paper and printed out pictures from Google images. My sister thinks it looks tacky but they actually come out in very good quality and it's cheaper so I really don't care if other people think it looks odd. So here are my favourite things...

My favourite movie of all-time is Almost Famous, starring Kate Hudson, Zooey Deschanel and Phillip Seymour Hoffman. For those of you who haven't already seen the movie it's about a young music journalist, William Miller, who goes on tour with a rock band in the 1970s. I can kind of relate to this film because I have my own aspirations of going into entertainment journalism so I actually find it kind of inspiring to see how William does anything to achieve his dream, which is to get his article published in Rolling Stone magazine. Of course I can't mention Almost Famous without saying how awesome the music in the film is! I don't play any instruments nor can I sing but I have a pretty good ear for good music so I'm a bit of a music buff. That's another reason why I love this film so much! I think my favourite scene in the movie is the one where they're singing Tiny Dancer by Elton John on the bus.

This entertainer needs no introduction. My favourite musical artist is none other than the King of Pop, Michael Jackson! I really can't even begin to describe how much of a fan I am but I'll try (LOL!) Michael Jackson entertained us so well with his singing and dancing. I like a plethora of his songs. My Ipod has more of his music than any other artist. I have over 40 of his songs. Michael Jackson is a true inspiration for me because he went through so much in his life but somehow he managed to pull through it all. He was always very humble and generous even though he was one of the most famous people of our time. My favourite Michael Jackson song is Black Or White because it was the first song of his that I ever heard when I was about three or four years old. This poster of Michael Jackson that is pictured here is right above my bed.

I think everyone in Australia recognises this street sign, right? My favourite television show is Neighbours. I've been watching the show since I was eight years old so that's 18 years now! I try very hard not to miss an episode but you know sometimes it happens. I follow and interact with most of the cast online and have met quite a few past and present Neighbours cast members that's how much of a fan of the show I am. Neighbours has been my constant source of comfort and regularity when I've gone through some of the toughest moments in my life. I owe it so much! I know that might sound silly to some people that I'm so attached to a television show but I'm just being honest.

I am a sucker for sitcoms and I have a fair few that I really like including, Friends, The Nanny and Seinfeld but I think my favourite of them all is Everybody Loves Raymond! I think I've seen every episode about 20 times (but who's counting, right?) I can usually tell what episode of Everybody Loves Raymond is airing within a few seconds of viewing. That's how much I've seen it LOL! Frank is my favourite of the Barone clan. Without his funny catchphrases and quotes to Marie the show would not be nearly as funny.

My favourite celebrity couple of all-time is Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley (see, I told you I am a massive MJ fan!). Even though things obviously didn't work out between the two of them I think they were well suited and Lisa Marie Presly was a very good influence on him.

This picture isn't actually of any poster that I have in my bedroom. It's of my Twitter background and my Facebook cover photo. It is a collage of my top ten musical artists. The yellow guitar, the colourful musical notes and the Hollywood star at the bottom are just for decorative purposes and the quote in the middle is a great quote about music, which I think is true. I made the collage myself. I thought I'd include it so you can see of my other favourites.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post. Keep your eyes peeled to this blog for all the latest entertainment news from STARDUST over the next few days. Feel free to comment, discuss anything!

New year new blog!

So this is my third attempt at starting a successful blog! I have tried a few times but to be perfectly honest it is really hard to find the time to write in it regularly, especially when I have a lot of other commitments to keep on top of like college.  One of my teachers at college once told me that to have a successful blog one should try to post something up every day, or at least weekly so this what I intend to do with STARDUST. My teacher also said that a blog should really be about a specific topic that interests you and in turn others who are also interested in the topic may read and follow it. I guess that's true because then you will have regular readers, rather than readers who wane in and out depending on the topic you're writing about. My previous blogs were about different topics all the time so that's probably one reason why they haven't really worked.

If you haven't seen the blog description already, STARDUST is an entertainment blog. I have hopes of working as an entertainment journalist so the topic was an obvious choice for me. I will be posting all the latest entertainment news from Hollywood, Australia and everywhere in between. Hopefully this time around it'll be better since I'm focusing on one particular subject and will post entries every few days.

Feel free to leave me suggestions, requests and comments on my posts! I want my readers to know some of my favourite things (cue The Sound Of Music song here LOL) so stay tuned for my next blog post when I show you some of the posters that I have on my bedroom wall (I just have to clean my room first, ha!) In the meantime if you want to know a little bit more about me feel free to read my 'About Me' section.
